- What is Timelin?
- Timelin is a calm, keyboard-first day planner for macOS with a built-in Pomodoro and Flow focus timer. You plan your day as a story, protect deep work with an always-on-top overlay timer, and reflect with daily, weekly, and monthly retrospectives.
- Is Timelin free?
- Yes — Timelin is free to download and use. The free plan includes one space, up to 12 stories, both focus timers with the overlay, and the daily retro, all stored locally on your Mac. No account is required. Pro is optional.
- What platforms does Timelin support?
- Timelin runs on macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later, on Apple Silicon. Windows and mobile versions are not available yet.
- Does Timelin work offline?
- Yes. Timelin is local-first, so your data lives on your Mac and everything works without an internet connection. You only need to be online for cross-device sync, which is a Pro feature.
- What is included in Timelin Pro?
- Pro lifts the free limits and adds the longer views: unlimited spaces and stories, weekly and monthly retros, story retros for finished projects, and sync across your devices. It is billed monthly or yearly, and you can cancel anytime.
- What is a story in Timelin?
- A story is a project. You break it into quests — individual tasks, each with its own deadline, focus time, and status — so a big goal reads as a narrative arc unfolding rather than a flat to-do list.
- What is the focus overlay?
- When you start a session, a small widget lifts out of the app and floats above every other window — editor, browser, anything. It shows the current quest and the time left, and you can drag it anywhere or summon it with a keyboard shortcut.
- What is the difference between the Pomodoro and Flow timers?
- Pomodoro counts down a fixed focus block, then prompts a break. Flow counts up for open-ended deep work and suggests a proportional break when you stop. Both run in the always-on-top overlay.
- Where is my data stored?
- On your Mac. Timelin is local-first, so your plans, stories, and history stay on your device by default, and an account is not required to use it. Cross-device sync is an optional Pro feature.
- Can I cancel Pro anytime?
- Yes. You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time and manage your plan from inside the app. Your data stays on your Mac either way — cancelling only stops sync and the Pro features, it never deletes your work.
